Hello friends and foes
It is already a difficult and uncertain time we are living in with the current covid pandemic, but on top of that, we have lately also had additional challenges in planning this year's Metal Magic Festival.
The area, 'Dronningepladsen', to where we moved 4 years ago to develop the 'The new' Metal Magic on, has suddenly (and without warning), due to some municipal expansion plans in the area, unfortunately proved to be inaccessible for us this summer.
This came as something of a shock to us and we could suddenly see an impending horror scenario ahead of us where we had to cancel the festival without the possibility of Force Majeure. This had undoubtedly resulted in the death of the festival!
Now, of course, we are not the kind of types who give up so easily, you should know by now! So we have spent the last few months finding a suitable emergency solution and have therefore made an agreement with the brand new local venue 'Eksercérhuset' located just across the street from the beach in Fredericia, near the city center and we will now have the 2021 version of Metal Magic in that location!
'Eksercérhuset' (The Exorcist House???) is a brand new venue in Fredericia which will open for the very first time in spring 2021 and will then be Denmark's 6th largest rhythmic venue with state-of-the-art facilities and the newest equipment in sound and lights. In our eyes, the place has the potential to become one of Denmark's very best venues and we look forward to trying it out this summer! (if Covid19 allows it ofcourse).
We will do our utmost to recreate the usual Metal Magic vibe and feeling that we all love, and we will try to make things as close to normal as possible. The indoor stage will now house the larger concerts, while an outdoor stage in the venue's courtyard will house the smaller ones. In between, there will be opportunity to buy the usual food and drinks as well as shopping merchandise.
Most important of all, it will still be our lovely and faithful volunteers who make the wheels spin around the bar, on stage, backstage, in the kitchen and so on 🙂 And just as much as we would have liked to have a festival with a campsite this year, it can unfortunately also now be just as difficult to find one. We will still be looking for a suitable solution for that, but we can't promise anything.
With the hope of a good summer for concerts and festivals worldwide, we wish covid19 far far away and look forward to seeing you all again!
We have currently chosen to only offer 500 tickets for sale for this year's festival, as we do not yet know the exact restrictions for that time, but we will of course adjust along the way and all tickets will of course be refunded in case of cancellation due to covid19.

Established in 1985
Macabre blends elements of true crime, math rock, nursery rhymes, punk, thrash, folk melodies, death metal, jazz fusion, black metal and more into an energetic, catchy and unmistakable amalgam. Murder Metal, refers to Macabre's signature style. It's a genre of one. The all-too-true tales of man's inhumanity to man are delivered with knife-edge precision, interspersed with Corporate Death's patented (back when he was a toddler) screech.
Fast and heavy, with a focus on things that make happy shiny people cringe, the original members, Corporate Death (guitar and vocals), Nefarious (bass and vocals) and Dennis the Menace (drums) are still together. Macabre have brought mayhem to the world in the past decade, playing dozens countries over the years. Macabre's rabid fans, including members of bands ranging from Carcass to Slipknot, relish the band's tight and increasingly sophisticated music; they exult in their musical chops as much as in the band's sense of humor, their killer music, and its deadly subjects.
Their last release Grim Scary Tales was recorded by Geoff Montgomery and is a historical look at murder, starting off with the earliest known grizzly tales. Very diverse musically and very twisted historically.
Murder Metal was produced by Grammy award winner Neil Kernon (Judas Priest, Cannibal Corpse, Queensryche). He did a masterful job on Macabre's 2000 magnum opus, Dahmer - a twenty-six song life story murder musical of the man who made Milwaukee infamous. Corporate Death, serial killer scholar and connoisseur, attended the trial, taking extensive notes that became the basis for the concept album.
Like Macabre's beloved 1993 classic Sinister Slaughter (Nuclear Blast), Murder Metal's 13 tracks encompass tales about a lethal assortment of serial killers and mass murderers. It spans the centuries, ranging from a ditty about the 16th century "Werewolf of Bedburg," through "Jack the Ripper" in the 19th century, to a host of more recent murderers like the "The Iceman" and the "Hillside Stranglers". The band revisits Fritz Haarman, the German butcher whose tasty sausages made unsuspecting cannibals of his customers. . The new song is sung in Fritz' native tongue.
Asked if he could make up any of these fiendish tales, Corporate Death admitted, "I could, but then it wouldn't be true crime." File Murder Metal under non-fiction.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg', whose name is derived from a character in ancient Irish mythology, originates from Central Pennsylvania. The band relocated to San Francisco, California in 1990 in hopes of resurrecting the ailing 'true metal' scene in the United States. The band quickly gained a reputation by taking a stand against the trends and incorporating stage savagery with strong visual imagery.
Three demos were produced by the band in the early to mid nineties. These were followed up by a self produced, self titled debut CD released in 1996.
Scoring points for originality in the European underground, they aroused the interest of Dragonheart in 1998 and 'Twilight of the Idols' was released in 1999 ..onheart Records. This was followed by, 'Down Among the Deadmen' released in the year 2000, and Sci-Fi epic, 'Traveller' in 2003. In 2005 the band moved to the Italian label Cruz Del Sur, and shortened their name to simply, 'Slough Feg' with the release of 'Atavism.' 2007 brought the dawn of HARDWORLDER, and a slight change of direction to a '70's NWOBHM sound.
Enter drummer Harry Cantwell, who brought the sound of anarchy in the streets with APE UPRISING in 2009!!!
Animal Spirits in 2010 brought the attention of Metal Blade Records and the band was signed to the legendary label in 2013. Now back with Cruz-Del-Sur, The Lord Weird Slough-Feg still delivers an eclectic mix of Celtic Folk and Traditional Metal peppered with buckets of energy and lyrical depth.

As everyone knows, 2020 was the year where many festivals had to cancel due to Covid19. Unfortunate...As an intended surprise for this year's Metal Magic Festival, we had lured our friends from Turbocharged into playing a set only consisting of covers... But as you know, the festival (and everything else in 2020) was canceled. But these experienced old swedish farts can rarely control themselves and of course went 'all in' on the idea, which resulted in a hell of a lot of recorded covers with accompanying videos. You can only take your hat off to one of the world's hardest working underground bands and fully respect their insane high-paced drive, which then finally ended up in a documentary about the band, with more than 2 hours of playing time!

DEATH SS
Italian rock group founded in 1977 by Steve Sylvester with the aim of forming a band that encloses inside of itself all its particular interests for occultism, horror films, erotic comics and rock music, in an original manner. The singer, then just a teenager, decided to apply the concept of "glamor" with a strong visual characterization to five characters inspired by stories of terror, the vampire (the singer), the mummy (the bassist), the wolf man (the drummer) , the zombie (the guitarist) and the phantom of the opera (the keyboard player), animating them with the iconoclastic charge received by the then nascent punk scene, from which to gather the extreme and shocking ideological aspects, developed however musically in a heavy manner. The musicians of the project, in addition to essential musical skills, also had to possess the right attitude and the phisique-du-role to impersonate its characters. From this point of view DEATH SS (literally "in DEATH of Steve Sylvester", name chosen to mean the symbolic ”death" of the human state of Steve Sylvester (SS) and its rebirth as initiated under the light of Occult, without any political reference in the two "S"), are to be considered as the inventors of that musical phenomenon that a few years later will be known as "Black Metal". The shocking live-show of the band aroused a great echo in the stagnant national scene of that time, immediately earning to the quintet a reputation of "cult-band". Starting from a musical carpet of horrifying sound effects, the group, from a stage set up with material stolen by cemeteries (gravestones, human skulls, funeral crowns, etc.), involved the audience in the scene with bloodshed, rotten meat, worms and human bones, while on stage the performers / witches of the band mimiced, completely naked, complex rituals of sexual magic. The extreme life-style of the young formation soon had tragic consequences that led in 1982 to the death of the original bass player and the split of the band, which in the meantime had only recorded some self-produced singles. In 1988 Steve Sylvester refounded the band with new good musicians of the Florentine area and, thanks to a contract with Discomagic, gave to the prints "In DEATH of Steve Sylvester", the first real studio album of the band (in the previous years it was circulated a bootleg containing demos and live recordings of the first line-up, entitled "the story of Death SS 1977/1984"). Then, with more or less regular expiration, will follow other albums such as "Black Mass", the live "The Cursed Concert" and "Heavy Demons", (produced by Sven Conquest, with guest the legendary actor Oliver Reed, and first gold disc of the band, cause it exceeded twenty-five thousand copies sold in its various editions). All the records was marked by a constant qualitative and stylistic evolution and by many revolutions in the line-up, that keeps over the time the only constant presence of the leader Sylvester. After alternating contractual events, the group arrived in 1996 to an agreement with Self Distribution, with whom Steve founded LUCIFER RISING Records, a label that sees him also engaged in the function of artistic director. The first birth of the label was the compilation "Horror music - the best of DEATH SS", a double collection with unpublished, historical pieces and unobtainable old singles. The following year the group enters the English Academy Studios, where, under the guidance of Mags and Keith Appleton (producers of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Anathema, Cradle of Filth, etc.), they record the album "Do what thou wilt ", a sort of concept on the magical-sexual work of the famous" magus "Aleister Crowley, always one of the main inspiration points for the philosophy of Steve Sylvester. In 1999, after the release of the documentary "Night of the living Death SS", a DVD containing clips and excerpts from the tour just ended, the group moved to Texas at the Tornillo Village Productions, where, together with the producer Neil Kernon (winner of a Grammy and with work experience with Judas Priest, Queen, Bowie, Queensryche, Nevermore etc.) recorded the album "Panic" ", a tribute to the god Pan, god of love, humor and confusion, another step forward in the sound evolution of the band, a disc that also boasts the presence as guest of the legendary Chilean director / poet Alejandro Jodorowsky, the inventor of the "panic theater". The album and the following tour were a success and at the end of the summer 2001 the band concluded an agreement with the producer team David Shiffman (already with Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System Of a Down etc.) and Fab. V.Zee Grossi. This collaboration opens a new musical vision to the DEATH SS, whose classic and unmistakable sounds are further enriched with cyber-harsh-punky and nu-metal influences, combined with a very personal euro-goth class. The band then moved to Los Angeles to give birth to the new album called "Humanomalies", a sort of concept about the world of freaks and human "ugliness", considered by many their most extreme sound experiment. The band's next and seventh studio album was titled "The Seventh Seal", in honor of the same named cult-movie directed by Ingmar Bergman, and was again recorded in Los Angeles. Conceptually it represents the closure of an artistic cycle of the band, a sort of "magic pact" signed by Steve at the beginning of his career and lasted about thirty years, to the celebration of which was released a double anthological DVD packaged in the shape of a coffin (" 1977/2007 - 30 years of Horror Music ") which, through video clips, fragments of concerts, TV appearances, unpublished extracts and spicy backstage, it shows all the fundamental stages of a career dedicated to horror music! A pause period followed, during which the vocalist dedicated himself to new experiments, creating the bands W.O.G.U.E. (acronym for Work of God United Entertainment) with dark-wave 80es sounds, and Sancta Sanctorum, (the latter together with the rhythm section of the first line-up of the DEATH SS), which instead propose a psychedelic and seventies doom rock. At the same time, Steve continues his acting career by participating in the horror movie "Eaters" produced by Uwe Boll, and on the television series "L'Ispettore Coliandro" and "Il commissario REX", while in November 2011 he released his official biography, "Il rock necromancer ", written together with the music writer Gianni Della Cioppa, a book that tells all the background of the period that goes from his adolescence to the split of the first line-up in 1982, and that collects in Italy a great success . DEATH SS continue to exist and to compose new material, part of which destined to be part of the soundtrack of some films such as "The darkest night" by John Morrison and "Fear 3D" by Manetti Bros, and in June 2013 return to the scenes with the new platter "Resurrection", from the beautiful cover in 70es erotic-horror-comic style , designed by the master Emanuele Taglietti, illustrator of cult comics as Sukia, Zora, Ulula, Cimiteria and Belzeba. A new tour follows, with dates that include the one at the Sweden Rock Fest with Black Sabbath, and the headliner gig at the Metalitalia.com festival (whose video footage will be published on a DVD), as well as the new live CD and double DVD called ” Beyond Resurrection ", again with a stunning cover illustrated by Taglietti. In 2017 Steve Sylvester officially becomes a star of the Hall of Fame of the legendary Hard Rock Cafè, donating one of his own costume of scene, and two tribute-albums are currently underway (another was already released in 2000), where many artists from allover the world have ventured into a cover-version of many DEATH SS classics. On September 7, 2018 the new album called "Rock'N'Roll Armageddon” was out, whose cover was created by Alex Horley (formerly author of covers for Rob Zombie, Gene Simmons and DC Comics). The platter was anticipated by a new single and new video clip for the title track.

Metal Magic would like to welcome the talented
Shaam Larein for next year's Metal Magic Festival -part 13!
This is how Shaam describes her music: “Aurora is a chaos that lives inside me, a depiction between dream and reality, a praise, an echo that will never be forgotten.”
The music is written with three strong female voices in focus and the choir is allowed to take as much space as the lead song. It is dark and barren but with beauty that shines through the desperation.
“I listen to really hard, alternative music myself, so my inspiration comes naturally from there. However, I think we add something new to the alternative music scene with the music I create, which is basically heavy rock,” explains Shaam.
Shaam Larein‘s music allows the listener to use their imagination for creating their own worlds. The listener is given the opportunity to meet the heavy music from a new perspective with the help of a different color palette that shows that Shaam has her roots in the Middle East. On the upcoming album for example, one of the songs is sung in Arabic.
Shaam says: “Since I come from the Middle East myself, it becomes quite obvious in my creation that that touch comes in and mixes with the heavy rock we play. It may not be so obvious to all listeners, but it usually falls into place for those who knows the Middle Eastern sound. The scales are pretty clear in the songs. “
Shaam Larein‘s upcoming album is full of emotional contrasts; stripped, heavy rock and dragging guitar melodies interwoven with theatrical song delivery. Her dramatic, confident expression on stage comes from the young years at the theater and her sense of drama has become her signature.

After the Danish authorities today announced that events with more than 500 people cannot take place until 31 August, it is of course obvious that Metal Magic Festival -part 13 will not be a thing in 2020.
We are currently working to get an overview of the financial situation and the other issues that we encounter due to this assembly ban. But we promise to return very soon, with news about the future of our beloved festival and how our ticket buyers should act for a refund etc..

As we all know, 2020 have been a bad year for festivals due to the current Covid19 situation...
In Denmark the government have so far banned events with less than 1000 people (like Metal Magic) until May 10th, with a very high chance of extending it further. So the chance to have a 2020 version of our beloved festival in Fredericia, is sadly at the moment very very uncertain!
We will keep you updated here as soon as we know more and we will ofcourse be following the coming guidelines of the danish government.

The very first band to play on the very first Metal Magic Festival back in 2008 was the Psychobilly band Johnny Nightmare.
